The first part of the session will be presented by Phil Tregunno of MHRA who will provide an overview of the IMI WEB-RADR program with a focus on the ADR reporting app. The newest regulatory authority app launches will be highlighted e.g. UAE RADR in United Arab Emirates. Wave 2 of the WEB-RADR program will be provided with an overview of the 2 elements:
1) The development of the app for Pharmaceutical Industry use
2) Mapping of the SNOMED and MedDRA dictionaries with an emphasis on the benefits and applications for this mapping in Pharmacovigilance
The second part of the session will be presented by Jabeen Ahmad, and is a real-time update of the AbbVie experience with the WEB-RADR reporting app. AbbVie is the first pharmaceutical company to adopt the app and have chosen to pilot it in the Patient Support Program setting. Jabeen will provide an overview of the partnership between MHRA-AbbVie, an overview of the pilot planned in South Africa and any results of the pilot available at the time of the meeting.
Jabeen Ahmad is a regional Pharmacovigilance director for AbbVie, based in the UK. She is co-founder of the EFPIA International Pharmacovigilance group (EFPIA IPVG) and leads the Africa & Middle East work stream. Jabeen has almost 20 years industry experience in a variety of PV roles, both clinical and post-marketing. Her areas of expertise are global PV systems and strengthening of PV systems in Low to Middle Income countries. Jabeen wrote the first chapter of the 2018 book “Pharmacovigilance: A Practical Approach” which was reviewed on Amazon as a “must read for healthcare, academics and healthcare industry alike”. She is passionate about digital and making safety information simple for all patients.
Phil is now Interim Group Manager of the MHRA’s Vigilance Intelligence and Research Group (VIRG) and has over fourteen years of experience working in pharmacovigilance. Prior to his current role Phil spent over nine years leading and developing the Signal Management function, including systems, processes, and relevant aspects of Pharmacovigilance Legislation. Phil also led the development and delivery of the IMI WEB-RADR Project and remains active in ensuring the impact of its outputs are optimised.
